Duncan Lister MEng CEng



Duncan Lister has worked with the Defence, Science and Technology Laboratory, Ford Motor Company, and subsequently spent eight years at Group Lotus, initially developing, and succesively managing the development of complex electronic control systems. His experience is centred on the development of automotive engine management systems, with an additional focus on chassis and body control systems. Duncan’s knowledge of on-board diagnostic systems and off-board diagnostic communications, together with the legislative requirements for both diagnostics and worldwide emissions certification provides a highly valuable asset to Proactsis Controls. Duncan has a first-class Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Nottingham and is a Chartered Engineer with the Institute of Mechanical Engineers.

Mike Davies MEng CEng



​Mike Davies has ​previously ​worked with BAE Systems, and spent 9 years at Group Lotus developing powertrain control systems for prototype and production vehicles for Lotus Cars, Lotus Motorsport and Lotus Engineering clients. He joined Proactsis Controls in 2016 and has been responsible for creating diagnostic​ specifications, supplier selection for Electric/Electronic systems, development of automotive embedded software and technical consultation for client companies. Mike​ is highly​ experience​d in ​powertrain control software development, a​s well as ​the ​design, development and verification​ of ​​CAN-bus communication network​s. Mike has a first-class Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Bath and is a Chartered Engineer with the Institute of Mechanical Engineers.

Embedded Software Engineer (C code)

Salary: £26,000 to £33,000

Job description

The successful candidate will be developing automotive embedded software, and your main tasks will include:

  • Writing C code to meet the requirements of outline and detailed specifications
  • Software architecture design for new functionality
  • Compliance with applicable C coding standards
  • Creation of unit tests for developed functions
  • Specification and/or development of control strategies
  • Supporting the development of modular software via creation, and use, of reusable functions
  • Participation in verification testing of your developed software using a mixture of simulation and bench-test environments
You will work as part of a small, dynamic team in a growing Norwich-based company. Support and training will be provided to you by existing team members. You will have the opportunity to use your own initiative to tailor the control strategies and software development.

Working hours
Working hours are full-time Monday to Friday, although flexible working is possible and reduced hours may be available if required.

You will have education and/or experience in software development using a C based language, as well as being a well-organised, reliable individual with an aptitude for problem solving.
